Yesterday Apple announced the new iPod Nano. I don’t know about you but it only feels like two minutes since the last release of the Nano? Anyway I just wanted to write this post for two reasons. Firstly to give my first impressions, and secondly to get your advice.
So the new iPod Nano. Looking at the photos and watching the Keynote speech from Steve Jobs on the Apple Website, it seems that they have gone back to a design that is more like the 2nd generation design - the longer and thinner look. There are some added features but to be honest are they features that we really want? HD video on an iPod? I have to say that my first impressions are that I think the old iPod design is better, what do you think?

The thing is what to do. I have an iPod 60gb of which I only ever seem to use around 20GB, unless I fill it with video for a holiday. Therefore do I try and flog my iPod and buy a new nano? Or should I flog my iPod and buy one of the older nano, in the style that I like better? Decisions, decisions. Your thoughts, as always are welcome.

Forgot to mention in this post when writing it but what has happened to Apple using the colour white?
Their iMac have all gone silver, iPod classics and also iPod nanos to. Apple was white in my book and I say bring it back!

I made my decision this evening. It is an old iPod nano 8gb that I have ordered for an impressive £72. Looking forward to its arrival soon.

i thought it was fantastic when apple changed the nano shape to a squarer version as it feels more secure in the hand. Its nice to see the new technology though along with the colours. i’m not sure many people would find it easy to use the click wheel to the left hand side though? On the third gen there was no need for an accelerometer as the screen was already wide with the wheel positioned suitably below on the third gen. One thing i would like to see is that the headphone socket was returned to the top of the device. i also agree that they should bring back the trademark pearly white colour that really defines an ipod which apple seem to have lost. I am also incredibly angry after buying a nano for my brother only last week that they have sprung a new one on the market so soon boasting new features which any ipod fan would be curios to discover.

I have a friend who is the same - rather angry at after buying his nano 2 days after the new one comes out!
My new iPod should be arriving tomorrow.
